To acknowledge the outstanding quality in the cup, we have chosen to pay 11.57 UDS/KG based on the quality of Palacios. We call it a 'return to origin' so you know the direct impact your coffee choice has on the farmer. Thank you for being a part of this rewarding journey.
We have laid out all the numbers for you in our Transparency Report.
About Palacios
This is our first year working with Axel Palacios. Axel is a fourth-generation coffee farmer, focused entirely on the production of specialty coffee.
The farm is located in Huehuetenango, close to the town of Palmira in the La Libertad region. It spans 50 hectares, 35 of which are dedicated to coffee production.
It was established in the early 1930s by Don Juan Palacios. Back then, there were no roads connecting this remote part of Huehuetenango to Huehuetenango City. Coffee had to be carried by mule, a journey that took five days
Chalum, known in Spanish as Inga, is planted as a shade tree. It is a leguminous species that not only provides shade but also improves soil fertility through its ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen.
