Pompeyo

Pompeyo and Lorena Castillo

A New Partnership in the Cloud Forest

This is our first year buying coffee from Pompeyo and his daughter Lorena, who grow Gesha in the buffer zone of the Sierra de las Minas Biosphere Reserve. Their farm, Kalibus La Sierra, sits at 1800 masl within the largest cloud forest in Mesoamerica, where mist, native shade trees and natural springs create ideal conditions for slow ripening and exceptional complexity.

The First to plant Gesha in Guatemala

Pompeyo was the first to plant Gesha in Guatemala and has become a steady finalist in the Cup of Excellence, known for coffees that balance clarity with depth. At the farm, cherries are selectively picked and processed with pure water from the surrounding springs, then dried slowly on raised beds to preserve the variety’s delicate aromatics.
