Precision and Patience

The natural process constitutes the oldest method of coffee processing and involves drying the whole coffee cherry with the fruit still intact, allowing the beans to absorb the sugars and flavours from the pulp and skin.



Legesse dries the cherries for 24-28 days, giving great attention to ensuring even drying to avoid fermentation defects.

He made headlines in 2022 when his coffee won the Cup of Excellence and sold for more than $400.50 per pound, making it the highest price ever recorded for Ethiopian coffee and the highest price in Cup of Excellence history at the time.

A Rare Connection

Legesse is the cousin of Mulugeta, and his coffee is processed at Mulugeta’s washing/drying station. We were able to purchase this standout lot through our longstanding partnership with his cousin, Mulugeta.
