To acknowledge the outstanding quality in the cup, we have chosen to pay 20.06 UDS/KG based on the quality of Pompeyo's coffee. We call it a 'return to origin' so you know the direct impact your coffee choice has on the farmer. Thank you for being a part of this rewarding journey.
We have laid out all the numbers for you in our Transparency Report.
About Pompeyo
This is our first year we are purchasing from Pompeyo. We had been in contact with Pompeyo and his daughter Lorena for a while before visiting them, intrigued by the setup of the farm within the buffer zone of a bioreserve. When we tasted Pompeyo’s Gesha for the first time, it was clear that we had to visit them to learn more about the conditions that produce a coffee of such aromatic complexity.
Pompeyo gained fame when entering the CoE for the first time in 2014 and winning it right away. Ever since, he has been a steady presence in the final selection of the CoE — notably winning again in 2016, placing 6th in 2017, 2nd in 2019, 12th and 9th in 2020, 8th in 2022, and 11th in both 2024 and 2025.
The cherries are harvested between January and May and processed at the farm’s wet mill, where the seeds are washed with pure water from springs on the property. After washing, the seeds are dried on raised African beds.
