The farmer

Hernesto Machaca specializes in natural coffee. His coffee is renowned for its super-clean and aromatic qualities, offering complex flavors that work well for both filter coffee and espresso. However, like many small producers in Bolivia, Machaca faces significant challenges in exporting his coffee, as larger buyers tend to dominate the market.

Despite these hurdles, Machaca has managed to maintain high-quality standards in his production. His commitment to quality natural coffee is evident in the meticulous way he processes his beans, allowing them to dry naturally, enhancing the coffee's inherent sweetness and fruity notes.

Quality Bonus

We work by the values of transparent trade. This helps create a healthy relationship with the farmer and financial sustainability for them.

We pay a quality bonus to Hernesto Machaca that is 171% above market price ($5/lb FOB). The quality bonus allows the farmer to continue to produce higher quality coffee.
