[Update January 3rd 2019: The Coffee Collective are closed at the Street Market. The last we were open at Broens Gadekøkken was December 23rd 2018.]
We’re excited to announce that we have opened a new coffee shop!
A few weeks ago we were contacted by the team behind Noma about a new street kitchen they’re organizing in companionship with the group behind the enormously successful Copenhagen Street Food on Papirøen, which closed at New Years as the area is being developed. Together the two groups had decided to join forces and create a new street food market, just across the bridge from Nyhavn to Christianshavn, sitting between the two Noma sister-restaurants 108 and Barr. The name of the place is Broens Gadekøkken – or The Bridge Street Kitchen.
The idea is to show the best of the Copenhagen casual food scene at this beautiful site, with a magnificent view of the harbor. The area is called The Greenland Market Square, as this was where traders from Greenland, Faroe Island, Iceland and other Nordic countries would bring in their items for sale. The food market stalls draws on inspiration from villages in Greenland and is build on shipping containers and wooden constructions.
Although we didn’t have any plans to open something new right now, this was such an exciting opportunity, that we couldn’t pass on it. It’s an area of the city that we love and there’s been a big void to fill after the closure of Papirøen. We also thought it was exciting to do a smaller coffee shop, with a more focused menu, and showcase coffee quality in that setting.
We’re fortunate to share a container with our friends from Grød. They’ve been redefining porridge since 2011 when they opened their first shop on Jægersborggade. Yes, the same street we started our coffee shops in. Lass and his team are great people and we see a lot of similarities and opportunities for cooperation. The first is that we’ll both be open already from 8 on weekdays and 9 on weekends, when the rest of the market opens at 11. Both our companies offer a morning service, so we thought it’d good to be available for the morning crowd at Broens Gadekøkken too.
Our menu offers almost all our espresso based drinks and filter batch brews from our trusty Fetco. We also have our Coffee Softice, Coffee Kombucha and Cold Coffee for those warm summer days.
In the bar you’ll likely meet bar manager Adam Ajaka, that has been with our team at Torvehallerne for a number of years and Mikkel Skelsgaard Sørensen, who joins him as souc-chef.
The address is Strandgade 95, 1401 Copenhagen K
